Ingredients:
Cake:
— 2 1/2 cups sugar
— 1 1/2 cups vegetable shortening
— 1 1/2 cups whole milk
— 6 large eggs
— 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
— 3 cups all-purpose flour
— 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
— 1/4 teaspoon salt
Icing:
— 1 cup brown sugar
— 1 cup sugar
— 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
— 1 (14 oz.) can of condensed milk
— 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
— 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
Derictions:
Preheat broiler to 350º F and softly oil 2 round cake container, contingent upon wanted thickness of cake.
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder and salt.
In an enormous bowl or blender, beat sugar and shortening together for 2-3 minutes, or until smooth and feathery.
Beat in eggs and vanilla concentrate until consolidated, then, at that point, blend in milk and dry fixings, being mindful so as not to over-blend.
Empty cakes into lubed baking rounds and spot in broiler.
Prepare for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick embedded in the middle tells the truth. Eliminate from stove and let cool totally.
Join earthy colored sugar, sugar, margarine and consolidated milk in an enormous pan over medium-high hotness, mixing consistently until thickened.
Heat to the point of boiling, then lower hotness and mix in vanilla extra and ocean salt. Cook for 5-7 minutes, or until thickened. Let cool somewhat until warm and thickened, then, at that point, collect base cake layer and pour 2/3-3/4 cup icing over.
Top with a subsequent cake layer and pour frosting over the highest point of the cake, allowing it to cover the sides. (In the case of utilizing three layers, partition icing properly).
